Terrier Group

Dogs in the terrier group are known for their energetic, tenacious, and feisty personalities, originally bred to hunt and kill vermin. This group includes breeds like the Airedale Terrier, Scottish Terrier, and Jack Russell Terrier. Terriers are generally small to medium-sized, but there’s a significant variation in size and appearance across the group. They are characterized by their strong jaws, fearless nature, and high energy levels.

Terriers often have wiry or coarse coats, which may require special grooming known as “hand-stripping” to maintain their texture and appearance. These dogs are known for being particularly spirited and bold, often showing little fear despite their small size. They typically have a strong prey drive and can be quite determined and stubborn, traits that made them effective in their original roles in pest control.

Due to their energetic and sometimes willful nature, terriers require consistent training and plenty of exercise to channel their energy positively. They can make loyal and affectionate pets but might not always get along with other small animals due to their strong hunting instincts. Terriers are well-suited for active individuals or families who can provide them with the attention, training, and activity they need.
