Getting Started
The Lesure Memory Foam Pet Couch Dog Bed arrived in a small box, which was surprising since I ordered the extra-large bed! Upon opening, I realized it was vacuum sealed, which is great for saving space during shipping. The foam and cover were rolled and vacuum sealed separately, so I cut them both open carefully to be sure I didn’t puncture them. The item description said the foam was reversible, so I had to choose between putting the flat side up, or the bumpy egg crate side up. My dog’s older dog bed has the egg crate side up, so I decided to go with that since he’s used to it. I slipped the cover on and zipped it up with minimal effort. The bolster for the back and sides is already sewn into the cover, so I didn’t need to put that in. Within a matter of a few minutes, the bed was ready to go, however since the foam had been sealed so tight, I gave it 24 hours to fully expand before using it.
Design
I absolutely love the design of this bed. My dog loves beds with bolsters on the edges because he likes to use them as a pillow to raise his head a little. I love this one in particular because rather than the bolster going all the way around, it’s only on the back and halfway up the sides, so it’s easy for him to step on and off of without having to step over the bolster. The way it’s designed also makes it look like a miniature dog couch. It’s so cute, and it’s a nice grey color so it blends in nicely with my other furniture. It’s like an extension of our couch, only dog-sized! I ordered the XL for my medium-sized dog which has its pros and cons. I’m always seeing reviews where the bed looks a bit too small for the dog, so I sized up to ensure that didn’t happen. A large probably would have been a better fit, but since he already has some beds that he needs to curl up to fit in, I wanted this one to be plenty big for him to fully stretch out. The large was slightly smaller than his current biggest bed, and the XL was slightly bigger, so I went with bigger. Every dog deserves a massive bed, right?
Performance
This bed is super soft for my dog, he loves sleeping in it. It’s also cushy enough for him, especially the bolstered back and sides. The bottom has some grip to it, so it doesn’t slide across the floor which I appreciate. So far he seems to be curling up in the corner against the raised sides, but there is plenty of room for him to fully stretch out if he needs to. Perhaps because it’s winter he’s more into curling up right now, and the extra space will be good in the summer when he’s stretching out to stay cool. The description says it’s 3 inches thick, but I do wish it were an inch or two thicker on the base. I like dog beds to sit up a little higher and provide as much cushion as possible since they do thin out as time goes on.
Quality
The foam padding feels thick and well-made, I think it’s going to last quite a while. Since I bought the bigger size for my dog, he’s light enough that I don’t think he’ll smoosh down the foam padding very much and that’ll increase the life of the bed. The outside cover is very soft right now because it’s new, however, I have my doubts on how long it’s going to stay that soft. The description says it’s a soft sherpa material and my experience with sherpa is that it gets matted pretty easily. I will try to wash it regularly to prevent that from happening, however, I’m also concerned that frequent washes will wear out the built-in bolster padding which is the best part about this bed. So I’ll have to figure out as time goes on how to keep it both soft and cushy.
Price
This bed is normally priced around $60, but it’s been hovering around $48 on Amazon, plus at the time of purchase I got an extra 20% off. So for around $38 I think this is priced quite well. For the $60 range, I would hope to see a little thicker padding, but because I got the XL size, that plays into it as well. Had I gotten the M or L for my dog, which is probably more appropriate for him, it would have been even more affordable. I’ve seen beds for a lot more, so I’m not complaining about the price of this one!
Final Verdict
Based on how much my dog is sleeping in this bed, I definitely think it’s a winner. It’s nicely padded, has a soft cover, and is washable. The design of it looking like a couch is my favorite feature, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for something that blends into their own furniture and looks stylish. It’s a reasonably priced, nice-looking, comfortable bed.
