Things to Do Near Minneapolis and St. Paul This Weekend

1. Dog Costume Contest

Lakes & Legends Brewing Co., Minneapolis
Friday, October 28, 6–8 p.m.

You know your floof is the best dressed, but now it’s time to convince everyone else! Head to this ultra dog-friendly taproom for some brews and views of all the spookiest and cutest canine costumes. Entering the contest is easy, simply bring your pup to the taproom between 6–7 p.m. and add them to the sign-up sheet posted at the bar. Each customer will receive one voting slip with every purchase of a pint, tables will have voting buckets, and votes will be tallied at 7:30 pm.

2. Halloween Paw-ty & Dog Costume Contest

Forgotten Star Brewing Co., Fridley
Saturday, October 29, 1–4 p.m.; registration required for the contest

Leash up your boo buddy and dress to impress for this Halloween pawty! Join Ruff Start Rescue at Forgotten Star Brewing’s beer garden tent for some spooky shenanigans. Pre-register your lil pupkin for the costume contest online for $10 or at the event from 1–2 p.m. for $15. Judging is from 2–3 p.m. with prizes awarded to the top 3 pups!

3. Howl-ween Contest + CBD for pets

Primitiva Jewelry, Minneapolis
Saturday, October 29, 11 a.m.–4 p.m.

Whether pup’s a CBD pro or just curious about the stuff, everypuppy is welcome to learn more at this Halloween-themed event. Come for the samples and discounts, stay for the spooky fun. Puppers can enter the costume contest for a chance to win a $25 Primitiva Collective gift card and 16 oz. treat bag. The event is free to attend, but they ask that you RSVP so they know how many to plan for. 

4. Halloween Spooktacular 5k

Fulton Brewery, Minneapolis
Saturday, October 29, 11 a.m.; registration required

If your idea of celebrating Halloween is chowing down on fun size candy bars like it’s your job, we’ve got just the event to balance things out. Run off a few Reece’s at Fulton Brewery’s 5k-ish fun run that starts and ends at their North Loop taproom. You and your pint-sized jogging buddy can complete the course as fast or slow as you please, then celebrate with event festivities and a free beer at the finish line.

5. Spooky Pups Halloween Scavenger Hunt

Wood-Rill Scientific & Natural Area (SNA), Wayzata
Saturday, October 29, 10 a.m.; tickets required

Get boo-tiful in your costumes, hop on your broomsticks, and zoom out to the Wayzata/Orono area on Saturday for this all-ages event. Puppers can show off their searching skills by helping with the scavenger hunt. Explore the trail to find and collect markers for prizes upon your return. Don’t furget to take a family pic at the photo station and get your paws on Halloween-related dog training info. 

6. 5th Annual Dog Halloween Paw-rty

Lowertown Dog Park, St. Paul
Sunday, October 30, 1 p.m.

This party at Saint Paul’s Lowertown Dog Park is a mutts-do this weekend. Located next to the Saints’ CHS Field, the off-leash park is inviting all furry ghouls and goblins for some spooky fun. Everypuppy that comes in costume or donates dog food or toys gets a free raffle ticket, and you’re gonna wanna buy a few more cuz they’ve got over $1,000 in prizes to raffle out! Plus it’s all for a good cause—supporting Healing Hearts Rescue.

7. Apple Spice and Everything Nice

Thor’s Hard Cider, Stillwater
Open 10 a.m.–6 p.m. 7 days a week 

Looking for a howlin’ good time in the grrreat outdoors? Pounce just outside the Twin Cities to Stillwater for some fun with the apple of your eye. This dog-friendly apple orchard is home to Thor’s Hard Cider, so don’t furget your MSP Brewery Pass. You can chow down on apple brats, sip on some fresh hard cider, take selfies in the apple orchard and vineyard, make friends with the goats, and enjoy free smells of freshly-baked apple cider donuts.

Healing Hearts Rescue

  • Healing Hearts Rescue will be at Colombia Height’s Truck or Treat event this Saturday, October 29 from 1–4 p.m. Shake paws with the adoptable foster pups and pupare to fall in ruv! Bring the whole pack for some candy giveaways, a pet costume contest, free hot cider and coffee, and free face painting.
