Things to Do Near Minneapolis and St. Paul This Weekend

1. 5K Beer Run

Nine Mile Brewing, Bloomington
Saturday, October 15, 11 a.m.; registration required

An untimed fun run, a free craft brew from Nine Mile Brewing, a collector’s pint glass or seasonal swag item, a chance to win sweet door prizes, AND access to all the event festivities? Ah, pup yeah! Your furry lil’ track star can run right alongside you, cheer you on from the dog-friendly patio, or save you a seat in the brewery taproom.

2. Dogtoberfest

Lift Bridge Brewing, Stillwater
Sunday, October 16, 1–4 p.m

Bring your best drinking buddy to Lift Bridge for some boos and brews. MN Boxer Rescue will be raising money with raffles, vendors, and prizes, along with Boxers to adopt, Boxer merch, a candy toss, a photo booth, and a costume contest. Floof is welcome inside the taproom or on the patio and can shake her tail to live music. 

3. Harvest for Hounds

2002 Safari Heights Trl, Eagan
Saturday, October 15 and Sunday, October 16, 11 a.m.–3 p.m.

Your market mutt has been itchin’ to spend some of your cash, and this weekend you can shop for a good cause. Harvest for Hounds is a farmer’s market-esque event that includes homemade baked treats, delicious canned goodies, produce, flowers, and more. Say cheeze cuz there’ll be an opportunity to get a fall photo with your pup, too! All proceeds benefit Warrior Dog Rescue.

4. Pet Haven 70th Anniversary Celebration

505 W Minnehaha Ave, St. Paul, MN 55103
Saturday, October 15, 12–3 p.m.

Pet Haven, Minnesota’s oldest foster-based rescue, is turning 70 (that’s 490 in dog years)! Come celebrate their legacy, as well as the grand opening of their first-ever physical space at their 70th Anniversary Celebration. There will be adoptable pets on site, along with food trucks, games, face painting, pet caricatures, and mutts more!

5. Barks N Brews

Bauhaus Brew Labs, Minneapolis
Tuesday, October 18, 4–9 p.m.

Calling all brewery pups who don’t want the weekend to end! Bauhaus Brew Labs is servin’ up barktastic brews for a good cause on Tuesday. A dollar from each beer purchased will go toward saving animals at the Rescue Network. There will also be some adorable pups up for adoption in the taproom, along with a name-your-price donation for puppy playtime. Floofs are always welcome inside or on the patio at Bauhaus Brew Labs.

6. Visit an Apple Orchard

Luceline Orchard, Watertown
Open 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Wednesday–Sunday, 10 a.m.–6 p.m. Saturday–Sunday

Looking for a howlin’ good time in the grrreat outdoors? Pounce just outside the cities to Watertown for some fun with the apple of your eye. At 155 acres, LuceLine is the Great Dane of apple orchards. Ultra-friendly and bred for both work and play, this orchard offers a variety of apples, pumpkins, and squash, loads of apple-y fare, and tons of space to pick, walk, ride, watch, and romp.

7. Pick Pumpkins with Pup

Whistling Well Farm, Hastings
Open 9 a.m.–6 p.m. daily through October

Leash up pup and take a trip to the pumpkin patch. Whistling Well Farm knows a little something about havin’ a gourd time! After pup’s done picking out her favorite pumpkins and gourds, you can shake your paw-paws to live music every Saturday and Sunday from 12–4 p.m. Check out their locally-grown mums, apples, bakery goodies, and fall decor too.

Secondhand Hounds Rescue

  • Secondhand Hounds will be at the Brooklyn Park Morrie’s Subaru this Saturday, October 15 from 1–3 p.m. Shake paws with the adoptable foster pups and pupare to fall in ruv! 

Smooch A Pooch – Fall Festival

  • Kick off the weekend at Alpha & Omega Farm in Princeton for fall festivities on the farm. We’re barking about rescue pups to meet, hayrides, pumpkins, live music, and wood-fired pizza. It’ll be a smashing good time! Outside dogs are not allowed at this event, just come to snuggle the rescue pups.
