Twin Cities Spots for Indoor Dog Walks

shaggy dog walking indoors

Living in the Twin Cities, it’s only a matter of time before pup steps paw outside and gives you a big hail no look (unless you’re owned by a Husky). Whether it’s a bit too nippy for you or your furry BFF, Minnesota’s metro has plenty of pup-friendly places for indoor dog walks. Sniff out these spots for doggo to exercise when Mother Nature decides to bring on the frozen tundra.

For The Shop ‘Til You Drop Pup

Retail therapy is important, bc baby it’s cold outside. There are quite a few Twin Cities shopping spots that are dog-friendly–just be sure to call any big-box stores ahead of time as rules can vary per location.

For the shopaholic hound, Seven Points is a three-story building in the heart of Uptown that welcomes pooches in common spaces, features multiple pawtios, and has a few dog-friendly stores (look for that iconic Sidewalk Dog sticker at the storefronts).

For the fashion-forward Fido, there are several boutiques that are four-legged shopper friendly. Patina offers a beautiful curation of affordably priced gifts, home decor, scents, paper goods, and jewelry, while Primp is your one-pup-shop for trendy clothes.

For the posh puppy, many Nordstorm and Nordstrom Rack locations say heck ya to canines (including the Mall of America location). Want some proof? Get your paws on the #dogsofnordstrom on Instagram.

For The Hands-On Hound

Looking to stop and smell the roses? Green-thumbed dogs are welcomed at many garden stores in the Twin Cities. Be sure to check out their winter hours before you plan the trek!

Need to fetch a few home repair necessities? We know the pupper has impeccable taste for home upgrades. You can wag that tail at some of the Frattallone’s Ace Hardwares, Fleet Farms, Lowe’s, and Home Depots in the Twin Cities. Our woof to the wise is to give your nearby location a jingle before jumping into the car.

For The Hobby-Lovin’ Doggies

If your best friend is into all things craftsy and creative, then a visit to JOANN is a mutts. Artsy doggies will be in heaven with their fabric, decor, and craft selection. Can’t find what you need for your next project? The floof can also check out Michaels–they’ve got tons of paper-based crafting supplies and some really great discounts!

If the pup is looking to get his adventure fill during the winter, you two can daydream while strolling the aisles of Gander Outdoor. They’ve got a wide enough selection of dreamy RVs and ample camping, hiking, and fishing gear to pretend like you’re doing the real thang. Need more sporting goods? Pup on over to Scheels in Eden Prairie.

For all the bookworms out there, sniff out dog-friendly bookstores to pick out your next page-turner.
