Inspired by our founder Ali Jarvis’ “lemon” dog, Luc, this series is dedicated to local, special-needs pups looking for loving homes. This week’s adoptable pooch is scooped up and served to you by ScoopyPoo DoggyDoo PickUp.
Stats: 3-year-old, 12-lb Chihuahua
Location: Twin Cities
Rescue: Ruff Start Rescue
SWD: Look at that tiny, handsome face! Tell us about Wayne.
RSR: There is so much to love about him. For starters, he is absolutely adorable. He’s also cuddly and very loyal. He is such a sweetheart and just wants to give kisses and snuggle all day long. He is also very playful and loves to jump around with our other small dogs. He loves carrying around toys and shaking them all over. He’s very playful and still acts like a puppy sometimes, in the best possible way.
SWD: He sounds like such a delight to be around! What’s his special need?
RSR: Wayne takes a while to warm up to new people. Once he does, he’s your best friend, but he’ll make you work for it a bit! He’s worth the wait, though — he just needs a family willing to take the time to win him over.
SWD: We just know the right family for lil’ Wayne is out there somewhere! What other fun stuff can you share about him?
RSR: He can get so excited when we get home from work that he’ll jump up and playfully nip his foster’s butt! He also loves being with her so much that he’ll jump into the shower with her just so he doesn’t have to be alone.
SWD: That’s hilarious! What would make the perfect home for Wayne?
RSR: The ideal home would be one with plenty of patience to help Wayne come out of his shell. He’d also love to have another small dog around to help him learn the ropes. His family should be willing to place him in a safe, quiet area while guests are visiting. Wayne has so much adoration to offer his forever family — their patience will be rewarded with so much love (and crazy, spastic kisses galore!).
