Inspired by our founder Ali Jarvis’ “lemon” dog, Luc, this series is dedicated to local, special-needs pups looking for loving homes. This week’s adoptable pooch is sponsored by The Urban Dog and Pet Connections.
Stats: 3-year-old, 95-lb Bloodhound/Coonhound mix
Time in foster: 1 year
Location: Twin Cities
SWD: So shiny. So stunning. Tell us what you love about Lucy!
RSR: She’s the very definition of goofball. This fun-loving, playful girl acts like a big puppy — super clumsy and all legs. Despite her size, she’s a lap dog who loves to cuddle on our laps to keep us warm. If you’re in the mood to chat, she’ll howl right back at you. She’s as gentle as she is beautiful, and she’s a comedian, too — we crack up watching her play peekaboo with her Chihuahua foster sister outside in the plants.
SWD: Beautiful, sweet, AND funny? We’re already obsessed! So what’s her special need?
RSR: Lucy is seeking a family without cats or small critters, and with a five-foot fenced yard. While she enjoys the company of other dogs, she prefers slow introductions.
SWD: That’s do-able! Tell us more fun stuff about this gorgeous gal.
RSR: Lucy has a long list of hobbies including cuddling, running around in the yard, playing with toys, going for walks, and sitting at the windows to watch all the critters outside. And she’s quite the entertainer — her singing voice is fabulous!
SWD: She sounds like such a wonderful companion. What would make the perfect home for Lucy?
RSR: Lucy would adore an active family who loves fun and cuddling. She walks well on a gentle leader and would love to be adopted by someone who can take her for strolls around the neighborhood. If you’re looking for 90+ pounds of dog to get cozy with you on the sofa this fall, Lucy’s your gal!
Lucy’s story is brought to you by The Urban Dog, which offers super-customizable dog-walking and pet-sitting services, packed with affection and safety; and by Pet Connections, a weekly radio show devoted to the joys of being a pet owner.
