Inspired by our founder Ali Jarvis’ “lemon” dog, Luc, this series is dedicated to local, special-needs pups looking for loving homes. This adoptable pooch is scooped up and brought to you by Dog Days in St. Paul and Metro Dogs in the North Loop. See why they’re so grrreat at the end of this story.
Stats: 5-year-old, 75-pound female Doberman Pinscher
Location: Twin Cities, MN
Rescue: Underdog Rescue
Sidewalk Dog: Look at that face! Tell us about Gilly.
Underdog Rescue: Gilly is a sweet, goofy girl who bonds very tightly with her person and who loves to snuggle. Even on warmer nights, Gilly likes to be touching her human as she sleeps. Other faves include barking at the TV whenever there are any animals pictured, and throwing, catching, and pouncing on her stuffed animal toys.
SWD: We can’t handle this cuteness. What’s her special need?
UR: Gilly has been looking for a forever home for more than two years. She’s also dog-selective and has had a hard time finding doggy companions.
SWD: Let’s find her the cuddliest forever fam ever. What kind of home would be a perfect fit for Gilly?
UR: Gilly would do best in a home with a fenced yard and without kids and cats. She doesn’t need a dog sibling, but if there is one, a careful, off-leash intro will be ideal. She’d LOVE to be part of an active, affectionate family.

This dog’s story was made possible by some of the pup-loving-est daycares in the Twin Cities: Dog Days in St. Paul and the newly expanded Metro Dogs in the North Loop, which is now accepting new doggos! As one happy customer recently put it, “After working in the pet care industry for 8+ years, this is the only place I trust my pooches to. I’ve never met a more caring, compassionate, on the ball crew in my life. The grooming is incredible, too.” For dog’s sake, give ’em a call today!
