Your dog may love walking through the woods lifting his leg at every tree, but this ain’t that kinda trip. Lower those legs and focus cuz it’s time to sniff out the perfect Christmas tree! Grab your gloves, pup, and holiday spirit, and head to these Washington dog-friendly Christmas tree farms.
1. Hunter Farms
Over seventy years, folks. That’s how long Hunter Farms has been in the Christmas tree business, so you KNOW they know what they’re talking about! You can find both sheared and unsheared trees on their lot in the Olympic Peninsula (up to 20-feet tall for those of you lucky pups with soaring ceilings). If you’re feeling adventurous, BYO saw and twine to cut your own tree! Just make sure to bring some manpower—you know your little prince/princess isn’t going to lift a paw to help. The farm is open to the public on weekends or during the week by appointments only, November through December.
2. Trinity Tree Farm
U-cuts, pre-cuts, Trinity Tree Farm has it all! The Issaquah farm spans 40 luxurious acres where you can find Grands, Douglases, Nobles, and Fraser Firs alike. No need to bring a hand saw and twine—they got you! Just make sure you pick up after your pup, keep him on leash, and mayyyybe don’t let him lift his legs to the most expensive tree, ya know? They also have a gift shop, espresso bar, and two fire pits to keep you warm. Regular hours start November 25: Monday through Friday 10 a.m.- 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 9 a.m.- 5 p.m.
3. Seattle Christmas Tree
Live in the city, but don’t feel up for a drive? Seattle Christmas Tree offers a dog-friendly alternative to a full-blown farm and is located right in the city. They even have online ordering and contactless delivery options. Their 2022 season begins November 17 and the lot is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m.- 8 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m.-8 p.m.
4. Christmas Creek Tree Farm
If you’re looking for a Christmas tree lot straight out of a Hallmark movie, we found it. Christmas Creek Tree Farm is nestled alongside the Snoqualmie River and tucked into the Cascade Mountains. U-cut or pre-cut trees are available in Noble, Nordman, Grand, and Douglas Fir varieties. After you get your tree, grab a cup of complimentary hot apple cider, cocoa, or coffee. (No beverages for Fido. But let’s be honest, he didn’t help anyway, right?) Opening day is November 25, but they have two preseason appointment days on the 19th and 23rd. Check their website for updated hours based on inventory.
5. McMurtey’s Red-Wood Christmas Tree Farm
Cocoa. Cider. Candy Canes. Wreaths. Trees. McMurtey’s Red-Wood Christmas Tree Farm is doing their darndest to put you in the holiday spirit, and we could not appreciate them more! Cut your own or get a pre-cut one, from 15-feet to tabletop (or should we say doghouse) size. You can make a U-cut reservation starting November 15 so when opening day arrives on November 25 you know you’re in! No need to register for a pre-cut tree, but plan ahead bc they often sell out by early December.
6. Buttonwood Farm
We know Fifi is nothing if not exclusive. Buttonwood Farm is the perfect place to hunt for a tree with your shy pup. Douglas, Noble, Fraser, Grand—oh my! Buttonwood’s organically grown Christmas trees are available by appointment only. Schedule your appointment to find the perfect tree today, and pup can sniff around like she owns the place. Shh, no one tell her she doesn’t.
