5 Fun (and Super Achievable) New Year’s Resolutions for Dog People

As we wave goodbye to another furbulous year, we’re sniffing out ways to help you and Fido live your best lives together in 2018. Here are five New Year’s resolutions for dogs and the people who love them:

Dog New Year’s resolution #1: Make a list.

Get creative with a 2018 dog-friendly bucket list. Try getting to every dog-friendly brewery (our Indoor Brewery Pass can help!), or 10 dog parks you haven’t visited before. With thousands of dog-friendly businesses at your fingertips, the sky’s the limit when it comes to finding new ways to relish life with Rover by your side.

Dog New Year’s resolution #2: Get likes.

Set up an Instagram account for your dog so they can finally get the fame they were born for. (Need inspiration? Here are just a few of our fave dog accounts.)

Dog New Year’s resolution #3: Give back.

Did you adopt your pupper from a local rescue? Show your appreciation by leaving a review in our directory, brighten their day with a donation, or sign up to volunteer or foster. Even if the adoption was years ago, they’d still ruv your support — and an update on how your dog is doing. ♥

Dog New Year’s resolution #4: License up.

Not only is pet licensing the law in many cities, it’s also beneficial to your pet’s safety should she get lost. (Live in Minneapolis or St Paul? You can get your license right on our site — including FREE bonus perks!) While you’re at it (#adulting), make sure your doggo has a collar tag with pup-to-date contact information. Microchipping is a terrific way to keep pets safe, too.

Dog New Year’s resolution #5: Teach tricks.

Nothing stimulates your dog’s mind — and impresses their fans — like learning a new trick. Gather up some treats, a whole lotta patience, and your creativity. Let things get a little weird (case in point: the video below). Share your trick videos with #SidewalkDog — we can’t wait to see what you come up with!

What are you and your dog most looking forward to in the new year?
