Every pet parent knows that vet bills can really add up, whether your dog is a puppy or in her golden years. If you’ve fallen on hard times, or just know that saving money means more treats for your bestie, there are plenty of low-cost vet clinics in Chicago that offer excellent vet care. Read on for some options!
The Anti-Cruelty Society
The Anti-Cruelty Society, located in Chicago’s River North neighborhood, offers low-cost or free spay/neuter services, emergency sheltering, pet housing deposit assistance, and programs for housebound seniors in need of food and animal care supplies. They also run several community programs, including wellness fairs, pop-up pet food pantries, and pet loss support groups. Bottom line: they’ve got you and pup covered, no matter your needs.
PAWS Chicago
PAWS is working to make Chicago a no-kill city, and they’ve got the resources to back it up. Their Lurie Clinic provides low-cost to free spay and neuter surgeries. They also offer low-cost annual preventive services (vaccines and flea, tick, heartworm prevention) during vaccine clinic hours.
Tree House Humane Society
Opened in 2021, the Tree House Veterinary Wellness Center is here to give everypuppy access to quality veterinary care. Whether it be for your own pet or the stray cutie on your block, Tree House offers spay/neuter surgeries and preventive wellness care at accessible, tiered pricing depending on your needs.
A.D.O.P.T. Pet Shelter
For all of our west Chicago suburb pups, A.D.O.P.T. Pet Shelter is for you. They offer low-cost spay/neuter surgeries and also host bi-monthly vaccine clinics on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month. All of their services are by appointment only, so don’t be caught without your resy!
If you’re a resident of Dupage County and meet the state income guideline for state aid, you can contact the county to receive a voucher for a no-cost spay/neuter surgery.
Anderson Humane Shelter
Anderson Humane Shelter in south Elgin knows that your dog is your bestie, and bestie deserves the best! They also know that the best doesn’t mean the most expensive, so they’re dedicated to keeping costs low so she’s happy, healthy, and there’s extra money for treats. All services are by appointment only, but they offer spay/neuter surgeries, regular vaccination clinics, and preventive services. Keep your eyes out though, since they plan on rolling out routine wellness checkups and low-cost dental procedures in 2022.
VIP Petcare
VIP Petcare is a veterinary service that has regular pup-up clinics across the Chicagoland area, and the country. If you’re just trying to keep doggo up-to-date on his vaccines, run diagnostic tests, or other basic services, any of VIP Petcare’s pop-up clinics would be the perfect spot, and save you a bit of cash. They also have permanent wellness center locations in suburbs like Des Plaines and Bolingbrook that offer health exams, anal gland expressions, and more advanced diagnostics.
You don’t need an appointment but these pop-ups get busy! We recommend going early to get yourself on the list before the clinic closes.
Fox Valley Animal Welfare League
It may be Fox Valley, but dogs are up their alley! They host spay/neuter and regular vaccination clinics to keep pets healthy. If pup’s been a little lax about his dental routine, no fear! They also offer dental services (but nothing major, since they don’t have x-ray machines in house). All services require an appointment.
