Getting Started
I received the bed in just 2 days through Amazon Prime. When I opened up the large cardboard box, I found another smaller cardboard box inside! Besides preventing damage, I don’t think they really needed two boxes for shipping. The bed was in a vacuum sealed plastic bag and the cover was free-floating at the bottom of the box. The box did contain instructions for putting everything together. As soon as I ripped open the plastic the bed started expanding. It immediately was ready to place in the bed cover. The bed came in two separate pieces: the main square foam for the base and the ledge. The bed cover had a main zipper that opened up on 3 sides. Once unzipped, there was another zipper for the ledge cushion to be inserted. Each piece fits well and the bed is ready to be used in minutes
Design
The design is more luxurious than other dog beds that I have purchased. It comes in a variety of colors, though I chose the Celadon green. This color is less likely to go with every room, but I prefer the pastel blues and greens. I anticipated it being a cute color and I was not disappointed. It should definitely be used as an indoor-only bed as it does not have any waterproofing and the cover is designed with faux fur. The bottom of the cover does have a non-stretchy surface most likely for non-skid technology. Both zippers functioned well, and the pieces were easy to insert into the
bed cover. The ledge adds an extra flare to the basic dog bed style.
Performance
As far as performance goes, I’m excited to see the longevity of this bed. Upon opening it, I was pleasantly surprised that there were no lumps or creases in the bed. The zippers were both in working condition and didn’t catch on any part of the bed. It is a cooling bed which is ideal for my huskies as they get hot quickly, and it has gel in the foam for extra comfort so it should be comfortable for aging joints as well. My huskies are both 55-65 pounds, so I got a Jumbo bed. One dog fits comfortably, two is a tight
squeeze but it does have snuggling capabilities.
Quality/Durability
This bed has the potential to be quite durable. The cover is easily removable and washable. My huskies can’t be trusted with beds as they like to rip them open, but under supervision I think we will have this bed for a long time. The base of the bed is two sections: the bottom half is foam and the top half is the gel memory foam with the cooling technology. So long as the inside portion doesn’t get wet, the bed should stay in good shape and not wear down too quickly in one spot.
Price
The price is a bit higher than an average dog bed. The Jumbo size sells for $100, and normally I wouldn’t spend that much on a dog bed. However, all of the specialties of this bed might just make it worth the price. The gel for arthritic dogs, the cooling technology for extra fluffy dogs, or even just the ledge of the bed for dogs who like to have a pillow when they sleep, all add to the desirability of the bed.
Final Verdict
Anyone who is interested in specialized beds might just have a winner here. The gel and cooling technology is perfect for older dogs, active dogs, or just dogs who deserve the world. I will definitely be recommending this to everyone I meet as it is super cute, and you get what you pay for in specialties.
