1. Brick of Chicago

Multiple locations, Chicago
Saturday, July 2–Sunday, July 3; tickets required

You’ve done the (dog-friendly) architecture tour when friends come to visit the Windy City, but don’t let your architectural knowledge and appreciation stop there. Brick of Chicago offers walking tours where you and your curious canine can learn about the styles and histories of some of Chicago’s most famous neighborhoods.

2. Dog Day Saturday Afternoon

Sidetrack The Video Bar, Chicago
Saturday, July 2, 1–5 p.m.; attendees must be 21+

Can pup hold her licker? This Saturday, Sidetrack The Video Bar is hosting DOG DAY, where they’ll be welcoming pooches who wanna come play and get their paws on some treatos. Obviously it’s gonna be a big ol’ pupper pawty! Tito’s Handmade Vodka will be on-site with fun doggy swag for canines and tasty adult beverages for the pawrents.

3. Live on the Lake

Navy Pier Beer Garden, Chicago
Saturday, July 2, 2 p.m.–Monday, July 4, 9 p.m.

Obvi we know that fireworks are ruff on the ears (and nerves), but head to Navy Pier before it gets dark each day this weekend for Live on the Lake, a FREE concert series at the Miller Lite Beer Garden. Enjoy some hops, hits, and social time before heading home to the comfort of pup’s thundershirt and white noise machine.

4. Dodge the Crowds

If crowds and celebrating this weekend sound exhausting, we’ve got you covered! The secret to avoiding the Fourth in Chicago is to head west so you can stay away from tourists on the River Walk and River North. Take your pooch for your own brewery crawl through West Town’s dog-friendly patios with stops at District Brew Yards, On Tour, Midwest Brewing Company, and—for something a little different—City Winery

No pupper in your life yet? Get a heckin’ dog already!

If you live in a world without tail-wags—what a heckin’ tragedy—check out this Chicago adoption event!

Rover Rescue

  • Get out of the hustle & bustle and into the paws of somepuppy who ruvs you. Rover Rescue will be at PetSmart in Geneva on Saturday, July 2 from 12–2 p.m. with adoptable pups looking for their furever homes.

Sniff out more events on our calendar and submit your own events here. And don’t furget to tag us @SidewalkDog in pics of your tail-waggin’ weekend!
