It’s official: spring is here. Flowers are in bloom, birds are chirping, the famous Denver sun is shining, and we crossed all our paws hoping the last doggone blizzard has passed. It’s the perfect opportunity to get out of the house (remember doing that?) and enjoy some open-air dining and adventuring for two. Follow this guide to go on the ultimutt date with your dog while supporting local businesses in the Morrison area.
Get Noms at The Cow, An Eatery
The Cow, An Eatery is the pawfect stop in the Red Rocks area for classic American fare. Their expansive menu includes omelettes, biscuits and gravy, burgers, sandwiches, and salads. The Cow features a huge outdoor patio right along Bear Creek for doggo to stretch out in the sun. Friendly staff will spoil hoomans with excellent service and offer your pup plenty o’ pets.
Hike and Picnic at Red Rocks Park & Amphitheater
We all miss seeing live music under the stars at the world-renown Red Rocks Park & Amphitheatre. Though shows aren’t happening yet (le sigh), you and your best fren can enjoy it as a furbulous dog-friendly hiking and picnic spot. We recommend The Geologic Overlook Trail for 1.1 miles of scenic views (and a picnic shelter). Leashes required.
Savor a Brew at Red Rocks Beer Garden
Tuckered out from all the splorin’? Head to Red Rocks Beer Garden. You and your dog’ll dig a shady spot on their 2500-square-foot fan-favorite patio. Savor their range of Colorado-brewed craft beers, wine, pizza, and other pub fare. Just save a few bites for pup, OK?
Bear Creek Trail
If you’re still hungry for more hiking (you party animal!), head out to Lair O’ the Bear Park. With five easy trails ranging from 0.7 to 2.6 miles, Lair O’ the Bear offers something for everypuppy. Featuring plenty of shade and a gorgeous creek, these trails are good for scorching summer days. Just remember to leash up before you go since it’s not an off-leash trail.
