Things to Do Near Minneapolis and St. Paul This Weekend
1. Fur-K Festival
The DECS North Star Academy, Duluth
Saturday, October 22, 10 a.m.; Registration required
It’s a beautiful time of year for a drive up north, and this one ends in a furry fun run! Snowflake Nordic Ski Center knows a little something about havin’ a pawtastic time. They’ll have sled dogs, local food trucks, North Shore small businesses, artists, kid activities, bouncy house, raffles, and more. After pup’s done running her 5K or 10K trail race, she can meet other furry frens and learn about sled dog racing.
2. Howl-O-Ween Party
2101 108th Lane NE, Blaine
Saturday, October 22, 10 a.m.–2 p.m.
Did somepuppy say trick-or-treat? Have a ghoul time with your lil pumpkin this Saturday while raising money for hounds in need at Minnesota Basset Rescue. The spooky fun is just $10/pup and includes dog games like bobbing for hot dogs, a food truck, vendors, and a silent auction. Make sure pupper looks bad and boo-jee for the costume contest too!
3. 5K Cider Run
Minneapolis Cider Co., Minneapolis
Saturday, October 22, 10 a.m.; Registration required
An untimed fun run, a free craft cider from Minneapolis Cider, a collector’s pint glass or seasonal swag item, a chance to win sweet door prizes, AND access to all the event festivities? Ah, pup yeah! Your furry lil’ track star can run right alongside you or cheer you on from the dog-friendly patio.
4. Sunshine Spooktacular
Sunshine Pet Spa, Minneapolis
Saturday, October 22, 11 a.m.–5 p.m.
No tricks, just tasty treats and a howlin’ good time at Sunshine Pet Spa this Saturday. Dress up your woofer cuz they’re hosting trick-or-treating for dogs all day, a pet costume contest, watercolor pet portraits by Alex Becker, and pet photos with K Schulz Photography. Lookin’ for a new pack member? You can shake paws with adoptable dogs from Underdog Rescue too.
5. Barktoberfest
Unleashed Hounds and Hops, Minneapolis
Saturday-Sunday, October 22-23, 10a.m.–5 p.m.
Doggo loves to eat, and even better to chow down for a bark-worthy cause at an indoor dog park while celebrating Oktoberfest! Pups will be off-leash for the festivities. Come for the amazing local vendors, adorable photo ops, and live music. Stay to meet new furry besties and enjoy tasty German treats. Be sure to register your pup and make a reservation to save your spot!

Secondhand Hounds Rescue
- Secondhand Hounds will be at the Brooklyn Park Morrie’s Subaru this Saturday, October 22 from 3–5 p.m. Shake paws with the adoptable foster pups and pupare to fall in ruv!
Ruff Start Rescue
- Pounce up north for some paw shaking and fall festivities at Alpha & Omega Farm on Saturday, October 22 from 12 to 4 p.m. We’re barking about hayrides ($4/person), pumpkins, games, music, and wood-fired pizza. It’ll be a smashing good time for the whole pack with adoptable animals from Ruff Start Rescue. BYOB your own alcoholic beverages and pre-order your drool-worthy pizza here. Outside dogs are not allowed at this event, just come to snuggle the rescue pups.
