Welcome to 2020 and we sure hope you added “take your dog to more fun places” to your list of new year resolutions! Before they start to hound you, here are some fun dog-friendly events going on this weekend.
Winter Fest (11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, January 11) Is your snow dog craving more winter fun? Drive north to Century Park in Vernon Hills for Winter Fest, a day filled with cold-weather activities for all such as a sled dog demo and s’mores around the fire. Note that dogs are only permitted in the outdoor portions of the event (but there are *snacks* out there).
Handmade Market Chicago (12 to 4 p.m. Saturday, January 11) Ruh-roh–word on the sidewalk is that your bestie wasn’t the happiest with what Santa Claws left in her stocking this Christmas (toothpaste, fur serious?). Make it pup to her while supporting local artists and vendors at this monthly market at The Empty Bottle. And bring cash so you can order tasty brunchos from adjacent Bite Cafe to the bar.
Sunday Fun Run (10 to 11 a.m. Sunday, January 12) After all the holiday monching ‘n cronching, start the year off strong at this dog-friendly neighborhood 5K with Universal Sole and Bitter Pops. Afterward you can grab a burned-it-and-earned-it beer (and water for your pup’s Dry January) and enter the raffle for an Odell Snowboard!
Furry Winter Photo Shoot (11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, January 12) New year means new headshots for your dog. Sit, stay, and model at Pet Care Plus with photos taken by Jake Miller of Friends First Photo. To reserve your spot, follow the link and donate $25 or more. Proceeds benefit Safe Haven Network, a Chicago referral network that helps find shelter for pets in abusive home environments.
Begyle Brewery (11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, 12 to 8 p.m. Sunday) Hailed as “one of the most poppin’ breweries for doggos” in an online review, what pup wouldn’t be grabbing their leash to sniff it out? If you stop by on Saturday from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m., you can also grab some tasty Filipino bites from visiting food truck Stix and Noodles to go with your beer. Just don’t forget to share with your #1.
What other pawesome events are on your agendog this weekend? Tell us in the comments, and don’t forget to submit all of your pup-centric events to our calendar. Happy adventuring!
