3 Things to Do With Your Dog This Weekend in Chicago

Get waggin’it’s St. Patrick’s Day weekend! If you’re ready to paint the town green, here are a few Greenies we’re tossin’ out for you to catch.

Tropics in the Tundra: A Benefit for Next Stop Home (7 to 11 p.m., Friday, March 15) Woofing of good causes, join pup advocacy group Next Stop Home at Reunion in Humboldt Park for rum punch, Caribbean eats, music, art, and more at this dog-friendly fundraiser. It’s not quite a tropical island vacay, but for mid-March in the Midwest, we won’t turn our snouts up at it.

Watch the Chicago River Turn Green (9 a.m., Saturday, March 16) Once a year, by the power of the leprechaun (or 40 pounds of vegetable dye), the Chicago River turns green as a golf course. The best places for you and your dog to watch this phenomenon are on the east side of Michigan Avenue, the west side of Columbus Drive, and the surrounding riverwalk and bridges. Then pup up to Tails in the City to let your pupper pick out a gourmet nom in celebration.

One Lucky Party (2 to 6 p.m., Saturday, March 16) The Real Dog Moms of Chicago are teaming up with One Tail at a Time for a paw-rade celebrating St. Patrick’s Day and helping a good cause. Fair warning: the performing bagpiper may inspire your dog to tap into his own musical stylings.

What other awesome events are on your weekend agendog? Tell us in the comments, and don’t forget to submit all of your pup-centric events to our calendar. Happy adventuring!
