You might have a human companion to spoil this weekend, but don’t forget your other valentine! Treat the ruv of your life to a brewery date, outdoor adventure, or massage – or all of the above. She probably won’t get you roses or chocolates in return, but those sloppy kisses are 100% worth it.
Dating with Dogs @ Forgotten Star Brewing (6 to 9 p.m., Friday, February 14) If “must love dogs” is part of your online dating profile, you’ll fit right in at this singles’ social/fundraiser for Ruff Start Rescue. Sidewalk Dog’ll be there for a night of psychic readings (we see paying for this in your future), build-your-own trail mix and puppuchinos, photo and kissing booths, and a drawing for a pair of MN Wild tickets. Colored wristbands for humans and bandanas for pups will show everyone’s relationship status (single, in a relationship, or it’s *complicated*), so there’s no excuse for your pooch to hump someone who’s taken.
Winter Festival @ Wildlife Science Center (11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, February 15) Bring your whole pack to watch demonstrations from mushers and the amazing sled dog teams that make our attempts at fitness look like knocked over garbage cans. Your puppo will thoroughly enjoy lounging by the campfire and bragging about how he “could totally do that” in between bites of food truck noms from B3 – Burgers Brats BBQ.
Love Your Dog Day @ Valley Ridge Mall (9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday, February 16) Down for a day trip? Wag your way to the mall in Stillwater to get schooled in canine massage (a little doggy told us your technique is less than pawfect and tbh he’s not sure why you don’t understand that you exist to serve him). Peep our Guide to Dog-Friendly Stillwater for other recs while you’re there!
Plus, an anytime option:
Bachman’s (10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays) Ruh roh… did you forget flowers for your sweetie?! Pretend you’re bringing the dog for a walk and high tail it to Bachman’s in Minneapolis, Apple Valley, St. Paul, Plymouth, or Eden Prairie (all dog-friendly locations). When you hand over your better-late-than-never bouquet with puppy dog eyes, all shall be furgiven.
