Seattle: 3 Things to Do With Your Dog This Weekend

Do you have a kindergartener, or a K9indergartener? Because either way, it’s Back-To-School season! Whether they’ll be spending their days learning to play nice, or stay nice, everyone is soaking in this last long weekend.

First Hill Farmers Market (10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, August 30) Ballard and Fremont’s farmers markets may get all the head pats, but First Hill is one you should definitely sniff out too. Because of its proximity to Pike Place Market (i.e. the OG Seattle Farmer’s Market), you’ll fetch the very best in produce, flowers and food. You’ll find the market open every Friday, through September 27, 2019. Hurry, time is scampering out!

Puppy Manners & Head Start Classes (10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Saturday, August 31) It’s Back to School season for your kids and furkids too! Each class is aimed at helping the tiniest of your tots learn up to be puppared for life with you, in a house, at a dog park, with other doggos–you name it! There’s lot to learn as an intrepid pupper, so set them up for success with Seattle Humane.

1st Annual Gumbo Affair (4 to 9 p.m. Saturday, August 31) Come on, it’s gumbo! We don’t get that often in the PNW. Bring an empty stomach, lawn chair, and probably some TUMS. Important note: The gumbo at this event is for the humans only–sorry puppers! They get their biscuits, you get the “gravy.” Kid and pups are free, and they ask for a $15 donation for everyone else.

Paint your Pet at Crucible Brewing (1 p.m. Saturday, August 31) Ok – bear with us. You can’t bring your beloved pup to this event in their physical form, but the event is ALL ABOUT THEM. Choose one of the thousands of pictures you have of your little treasure and bring it to Crucible Brewing. Helpful folks will hand draw it on your canvas (thank Dog), and you’ll paint it in while drinking, snacking, and getting swag bags. It’s like Paint Nite, but personalized just for you and your furry friend!

What else is on your agendog this weekend? Doo tell. (And don’t forget to submit all of your pup-centric events to our calendar.) Happy adventuring, Sidewalk Doggers!
