Planning to let your pup sniff out some new greenery scenery? We’ve tracked down some must-visit dog-friendly Seattle gardens and arboretums. Don’t forget to take Insta pics to make your dog’s followers jealous!
UW Cherry Blossoms
A Seattle staple, the cherry blossoms that fill the quad at University of Washington are absolutely stunning, and not to be missed. Your collegiate canine can wander campus, on leash, and sniff the blossoms. Careful pup doesn’t get mistaken for a student—campus can get busy during class hours. The different varieties bloom between February and May, and you and floofer can venture out to bask in the pink paradise or snuggle on the couch to view them virtually.
WA Park Arboretum
Sure, your pupper really only needs one flower in a photo to look good, but why not throw in 230 acres just in case? The Botanic Gardens at Washington Park Arboretum offers you and your little model a gorgeous living museum of plants, some found nowhere else in the Northwest!
Note: Dogs are welcome in the Arboretum but not in the Seattle Japanese Garden at the south end.
Woodland Park Rose Garden
Your lil’ rosebud is gonna ruv sniffing around Woodland Park Rose Garden, plus it’s right by her fave Woodland Park Off-Leash Area, score! The rose garden is one of only 24 certified American Rose Test Gardens in the U.S. With over 280 varieties of roses and over 5,000 individual plants, this spot is perf for any fluffy floral enthusiast. For the best Insta pic, the roses are in bloom from May through August. Keep pup on leash and clean up any messes for a sweet-smelling visit.
Kubota Garden
A true gem of south Seattle, this 20-acre Japanese garden created in 1927 is free to all hoomans and leashed pups. While there, you and doggo can sniff out 9 ponds, 2 red bridges, 140 maples, and 30 hydrangea varieties! Bring along lunch and share noms on their picnic tables.
Seattle Chinese Garden
Located at South Seattle College, the Seattle Chinese Garden is a factory of tranquility. With 4.6 acres to sniff, it’s one of the largest Chinese gardens outside of China and your floofy explorer is welcome to walk every inch on leash. Seattle Chinese Garden showcases the traditional elements of a Chinese garden: plant, stone, architecture, and water. The garden is designed to change drastically with each season, so you and pupper can come back again and again. Get that camera ready for pics of downtown Seattle, Elliott Bay, the Cascades, and your good boy.
