This series is brought to you in partnership with Metro Dogs Daycare & Boarding, which strives to make life easier for busy urban dog owners. Voted Best Doggy Daycare in City Pages (2015 + 2017), Metro Dogs’ safe, loving environment is their top priority. Current and former customers are encouraged to submit reviews via their Sidewalk Dog listing.

Ah, spring in the North Loop: the birds are singing, the sun is out, and the patios are beginning to open up for the season. Enter Darby’s Pub & Grill, one of the North Loop’s very best options for dog-friendly outdoor dining.

Opened in 2012 by Marcus Dorn and Mark Serafin, Darby’s has quickly grown into a Twin Cities staple. The location—conveniently close to Target Field—certainly doesn’t hurt, as it can draw in huge crowds on game days. Luckily, the patio at Darby’s is awe-inspiringly large, sitting at 3,000 square feet with seating for up to 150 guests—furry and four-legged or otherwise—at a time.

The food at Darby’s is the definition of all-American, delicious Cheat Day food. We’re talking inventive burgers and sandwiches like a Philly cheese steak covered in Fat Tire Amber Ale beer cheese, hearty house-made soups and chili, and bacon-wrapped tater tots so good they’re featured at Target Field. There are also healthier options like a hummus plate with roasted red peppers and pita, plus tempting salads with tons of mix-ins.

To top it all off, Darby’s offers a tempting happy hour from 3-6 on weekdays without Target Field events, featuring a simple “3-4-5” dollar pricing system. If you’re after drool-worthy deals on food and beverage offers, you know just when to stop by.

Don’t just take our woof for it: Darby’s has earned lots of glowing (five-star) reviews. Here are some highlights:

  • “Our server was extremely helpful and welcoming, the food prices were very reasonable, and there’s a good number of happy hour deals.”
  • “Love it here – delicious food and a neat atmosphere. The staff are always super friendly!”
  • “This place was excellent…a hard 5 out of 5. We walked in, and we’re greeted by the manager and introduced to the bartender as we were seated. They were friendly, welcoming, and very personable.”

You can even get FREE beer or wine at Darby’s and 26 other local patios with our NEW Restaurant Pass!
