Dog-Friendly Guide to Edmonds

A city well-loved for its beach-town attitude, Edmonds is also bursting with spunk. It was named the state’s first Certified Creative District, and a walk through its neat downtown proves just how woofin’ awesome the city is. From galleries to public trails, boutiques to bakeries, Edmonds is like a long belly rub for your entire fur family. We’ve narrowed down 10 dog-friendly spots that get two paws up.

Edmonds Marina Beach Off-Leash Dog Park
Dogs know one thing for sure: when given the option, you always choose the beach. Always. Edmonds Marina Beach Off-Leash Dog Park (pictured above) is heaven on the Puget for lucky fluffers. With lots of sand and water to frolic in, pups will pack in the fun chasing sticks while their humans can explore the sea life that washes ashore. If yours is a non-swimmer, the park also features a large grass area. The dog rinsing station’ll help clean those paws before jumping back in the car, but sand is a small price to pay for a glorious day in the water.

Red Twig Bakery
Artisanal coffee, pastries baked fresh daily, a generous brunch menu served until 1 p.m….there’s nothing doggone wrong with this place, and the fact that pooches can patio with you is the peanut butter icing on top. Red Twig Bakery is a favorite among locals due to the rotating bakery menu that changes with the seasons and the availability of organic, vegan, and gluten-free options to boop.

American Brewing Company
Just a tennis ball’s throw from the Edmonds waterfront, American Brewing Company is an award-winning brewery that all thirsty pups can agree on. Often hosting live music events and frequent tastings of new batches of beer, this hot spot is itching for you and your tail-wagger to stop by. If pizza, pretzels or wraps don’t strike your fancy, then dine at a local food truck every Friday. All the good doggos will love begging for scraps and swigs of these meticulously crafted beers.

Rogue
Pupper has an eye for color combinations, so why would you crush his creative ingenuity? Take advantage of having your own personal stylist by visiting Rogue, a boutique women’s clothing store that offers the quality that can only be found with shopping local. Well-behaved, leashed doggos are welcome to pawruse the racks, with the consent of other patrons of course. With prices that are lickin’ affordable, Rogue is your one-pup-shop for an entire outfit that is dog-approved.

Girardi’s Osteria
Ciao bella! Or, should Fido be reading this, chow smella. If you have a hankering for Italian, then Girardi’s Osteria is your next stop for some well-loved favorites like goat cheese bruschetta, pumpkin ravioli and gnocchi pesto. The Edmonds establishment has been around for twenty years, and their patio welcomes all four-legged customers. Pop by for lunch, dinner or yappy hour to fill those rumbling stomachs and enjoy the scent of the nearby Puget Sound.

Walnut Street Coffee
Wipe that marinara sauce from your mouth and free up some room in your tummy because next door to Girardi’s Osteria is a quaint, charming coffee shop waiting to welcome your pup. Filled with scones, muffins, donuts, and other pastries from the best local vendors, Walnut Street Coffee has a patio perfect for enjoying a beautiful day and puppy-eyeing everyone for just one bite. I can has?

Salish Sea Brewing Company
As the pawveyors of “delicious hand-crafted ales,” the folks at Salish Sea Brewing Company know what they’re doing. Their large and accommodating patio is dog (and baby human) friendly, the perfect spot to knock one back with your fave four-legged drinking buddy. There’s a large menu of food, too, and the happy hour is definitely something worth sniffing out. And there are plenty of nice cool bowls of H2O for any thirsty pupper who stops by.

Pelindaba Lavender
Stop and smell the…lavender? Pelindaba Lavender is a boop-tique selling handcrafted items made from, you guessed it, lavender. Culinary oils and herbs, cleaning liquids, candles, and floral jewelry are just a few things you can expect to find in their downtown Edmonds storefront. Most excitingly, there is a section dedicated to lavender pet care items, and treats are always on hand. Pelindaba Lavender’s essential oils are made with pup in mind and are thought to ward of ticks. And make your buddy smell like a dream, obviously.

Yost Park
Trees and water and moss, oh my! Looking for a break from the downtown area and a retreat back into nature? Yost Park is a bone-afide slice of zen in the heart of Edmonds. About 1.5 miles of intricate trails converge both through the forested ravine and up the steep hillside, and your four-legged walking partner is sure to enjoy the sight of imposing cedars and sound of trickling water on this leisurely, calming jaunt through Edmond’s little emerald gem.

Brigid’s Bottleshop
Hot dog, have we got the most pawsome spot to round out your day in Edmonds! Brigid’s Bottleshop is a specialty beer retailer with 24 taps and 18 rotating beers, as well as a rotating mix of cider, wine and non-alcoholic options. The outdoor deck is drool-worthy, and well-behaved doggos on leashes are welcome inside and out! And it’s situated right on the Edmonds waterfront with the perfect views to unwind (hey, dog life is stressful!).
