Your Dog-Friendly Chicago Weekend: November 3-6, 2022

Mother Nature is delivering Chicagoland another beautiful fall week of sunshine and with it, ALL the fall ~vibes~. So lace up those shoes, pack a water bowl, and get ready fur an adventure-filled weekend. It’s time to sniff out a few dog-friendly events in the city with your woofer.

1. Thrill House Team Trivia

Bucktown Pub, Chicago
Thursday, November 3, 8 p.m. 

This quintessential no-frills local pub in its namesake neighborhood always welcomes good-mannered mutts to its laid-back indoor-outdoor space. Free trivia occurs every third Thursday and includes a $100 cash prize, ensuring you and pupper will be able to enjoy quite a few rounds of drinks completely on the house. Can’t make it in person? Tune-in remotely.

2. Sofar Sounds Concert Series

Midwest Coast Brewing, Chicago 
Friday, November 4, 7:30-10 p.m.; Tickets required

Midwest Coast’s industrial chic taproom situated smack dab in the middle of West Town and West Loop is regularly a popular weekend hangout spot for city pooches. The rotating Sofar Sounds Concert Series will bring 2-3 short sets from top performers from all musical genres. So, leash up Buddy, grab a beer (or two), and relax. You’ve earned this weekend. Must be 21+ to attend. 

3. Dog Day Saturday Afternoon

Sidetrack The Video Bar, Chicago
Saturday, November 5, 1-5 p.m.

This decades-long staple in historic Northalsted is once again going to the dogs… for its monthly Dog Day! Doggos in the know go for the free doggy swag by Tito’s Handmade Vodka and stay for the many, many, MANY pets. Pawrents will love the free cover and tasty adult beverages at this 21+ event.

4. Morton Arboretum’s Dog Admission Days and Tails on the Trails

Morton Arboretum, Lisle 
Sunday, November 6, 9 a.m.–3 p.m. (non-member hours); Registration required

With 16 miles of hiking trails and tons of towering trees, the Morton Arboretum is one of the region’s largest recreation areas. On select dates (including this Sunday), it welcomes floofs of all sizes during “Dog Admission Days” and “Tails on the Trails,” happening simultaneously. An on-site pet expo will feature local dog-friendly vendors and organizations, a dog adoption fair, and sessions on animal shelter volunteering. Dog and hooman admission passes must be reserved in advance and members get priority access. Dog pricing is $5 per pooch, with discounted rates available for groups of eight or more peeps.

Rover Rescue 

  • November is “National Adopt a Senior Pet Month” and Rover Rescue in Aurora is celebrating in a big way. Meet aww-dorable adoptable senior furbabes at the Geneva PetSmart from noon–2 p.m. Adopters can snag coupons, including one for free dog food.
