2022 Dog-Friendly Chicago St. Patrick’s Day Events

You and your dog may not be Irish, but thankfully we’re all a little Chi-rish in Chicago. While you may have already found the pup of gold at the end of the rainbow, what other ways can you celebrate the week with your dog? Leash up, grab your green (no pinchies, plz) and sniff out our recs for Chicago St. Patrick’s Day events for you and your pup-rechaun!

Chicago River Dyeing

The dyeing of the Chicago River is back for 2022! While your pupper may not be able to tell that the river’s turning green on Saturday, March 12, she’ll still get to enjoy the vibes. The Chicago Riverwalk is always dog-friendly, so take a stroll, people watch, and enjoy the rrrevelry. River dyeing starts at 10 a.m., and the effects last for a few days.

Don’t forget that the Riverwalk will be exceptionally crowded and one too many green beers will prob be drunk, so this is best for very confident dogs, or after peak St. Patrick’s Day hours.

Yappy Hour at Yorktown Center

So you found your pot of gold at the end of the rainbow? Time to spend some of that coin at the dog-friendly Yorktown Center. They’re hosting a St. Patrick’s Day Yappy Hour on March 17 from 5:30–7:30 p.m., where they’ll be serving pup a dog “beer” tasting (all floof-friendly ingredients, not to worry) and shamrock-shaped dog treats.

Get Sham-rocked at The Rambler

With two outdoor seating areas that are both dog-friendly, The Rambler is the spot for pawty pups ready to get sham-rocked during their St. Paddy’s Week. From March 12–17, they’ll be slingin’ everything you need to celebrate—green beer, Guinness drink specials, Reubens and corned beef dinners. Doggo won’t be the only one who’s droolin’.

South Side Irish St. Patrick’s Day Parade

If you and pup wouldn’t touch the Downtown Parade with a 10-foot pole (we don’t blame ya), check out the South Side Irish St. Patrick’s Day Parade instead! Heralded as the largest neighborhood-based St. Patrick’s Day Parade outside of Dublin with over 150,000 revelers, why not make it 150,002 with you and pup? You can find the fun on March 13 from 12–3 p.m. The parade starts at 103rd and Western Ave.

St. Paddy’s Party at Cody’s Public House

Cody’s Public House is dog-friendly all year round and pups are still welcome at their St. Paddy’s Day Party on Saturday, March 12. Kick off your celebrations with free breakfast starting at 9 a.m. (ft. Lucky Charms, of course), and keep the fun flowing all day with drink specials on green beer and Guinness. Don’t furget to tag Cody’s in pics of your pup’s St. Paddy’s adventures for a chance at being Dog of the Month!

St. Patrick’s Day isn’t just for the Irish Wolfhounds of Chicago. How are you and your four-leaf clover planning to raise a pint this year? Woof at us in the comments and tag us @SidewalkDog in your slobbery selfies!
