Your dog’s got his Howloween costume ready, but COVID means parties are gonna look a little different this year. No worries, Sidewalk Dog is here to help your doggos celebrate responsibly! Here’s a roundup of dog-friendly Chicago Halloween events happening in the city this month that’ll have your Halloweenie ready to do the monster mash.
(10 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 24) Join FFC Lakeview and Miss Foozie for a treato hunt! Get ready to explore Lakeview and put all of your doggo’s sniffer to good use to smell out the best treats. Your $5 registration will include a prize raffle, giveaway, photobooth and of course, a costume contest.
(12–4 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 24) Get spooky and join Ruff Haus for the COVID edition of their annual costume contest benefitting One Tail at a Time. Whether your doggo decides to go for a funny, cute, or scary costume, your $20 donation will get her entry into the costume contest, a professional photo, and a goody bag of treats. After getting your photo taken, post it to social media as soon as pawsible—the winner will be determined by most likes!
(1–6 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 24) Fido knows he’s got the best costume this year, and he wants the photo evidence to prove it. Swing by Barks N’ Rec and get your photo taken by photographer Mandy Dempsey. It’s $30 for your Halloween shoot, but if you book your Holiday pop-up portrait now, you’ll get a goodie bag in November and your Halloween portrait for free! Your doggo loves getting his photo taken, but he also loves a good deal.
(7-10 a.m., Sunday, Oct. 25) You don’t need to have a party to get dressed up! Put your dog in his cutest costume, have his pawtrait taken by Fetch Portraits at Maus House and remember it furever.
(6-9 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 29) Park and Field’s large patio is the pawfect destination for this outdoor Halloween party. And did we mention that it’s heated? Coordinating costumes for you and your pup are encouraged, with prizes and giveaways for the best costumes. Also, in the spooky spirit of dogs, they’ll be slinging $5 cans of local brewery Maplewood’s Fat Pug beer. Reservations are required.
And if you’re looking for some more safe outdoor fun, sniff out dog-friendly pumpkin patches in Chicago.
