Inspired by our founder Ali Jarvis’ “lemon” dog, Luc, this series is dedicated to local, special-needs pups looking for loving homes. This adoptable pooch is scooped up and brought to you by Dog Days in St. Paul and Metro Dogs in the North Loop. See why they’re so grrreat at the end of this story.
PUPDATE: Nugget went to her furever home. Stay tuned for more special dogs seeking special homes.
Stats: 1.5-year-old, 35-pound, female Pit Bull Terrier mix
Location: Twin Cities
Sidewalk Dog: Oh fur cute! Tell us about Nugget.
Unbreakabull Pit Bull Rescue of MN: Nugget is the sweetest and kindest girl out there! She absolutely lives to please people and get love in return. She’s house trained and crate trained, but can be left out without getting into things. She walks great on a leash, loves chewing on her bones, playing, and getting belly rubs.
SWD: A total nugget of gold. What are Nugget’s special needs?
UPBR: Nugget suffers from anxiety around other dogs in a closed setting such as a home, cats, and children. She’s been with us since Feb. 28, 2019. She’s doing great in her quiet foster home but will be so happy to find her forever home.
SWD: OK, so will gib a lifetime of love for one peaceful house. Got it. What else would make the perfect forever home for Nugget?
UPBR: Nugget’s ideal forever home will be one where there are no other dogs, no cats, and no kids. She just needs someone who will love her and reassure her in situations where she might be nervous. She’s so young, and we have hope for an amazing future for her in the right home.

This dog’s story was made possible by some of the pup-loving-est daycares in the Twin Cities: Dog Days in St. Paul and the newly expanded Metro Dogs in the North Loop, which is now accepting new doggos! As one happy customer recently put it, “After working in the pet care industry for 8+ years, this is the only place I trust my pooches to. I’ve never met a more caring, compassionate, on the ball crew in my life. The grooming is incredible, too.” For dog’s sake, give ’em a call today!
