This series is dedicated to local pups having a harder time finding their forever homes, whether it be due to age, physical impairments, or just needing a little extra attention. We could all use a friend rn, so we’re spreadin’ the woof about this special somepawdy.
Adopt Lady Lisa from Animal Care League
Name: Lady Lisa
Stats: 5-year-old, 102 lb Akita mix
Location: Oak Park
Rescue: Animal Care League
Sidewalk Dog: Wow, we ruv all 100+ lbs of her. Tell us more!
Animal Care League: Lady Lisa is just a goof lookin’ for her ball. This gal is so silly and affectionate with her volunteer friends and a very faithful companion who will shower her human with adoration and love for life. She’s active too, and loves playing fetch and going on hikes.
SWD: What an absolute doll. What are her special needs?
ACL: Lady Lisa came to the shelter in March 2019 after she was left tethered to a fence all alone. She’s been waiting a long time and has come so far since those scary days! She responds better to females and will need a patient home.
SWD: Girl power—we get it. What else is she into?
ACL: A top dog dancer, she does a cute little bounce and twirl when you grab her leash. She loves tennis balls and stuffed toys (and is a pro at dismantling them). She likes to catch bees during spring and summer walks.
SWD: What a honey! What kind of home is she lookin’ for?
ACL: She needs to go to a patient dog-savvy home. Adults only, and she wants to be the apple of your eye (only pet). Oh, and family must love fetch.
