Inspired by our founder Ali Jarvis’ “lemon” dog, Luc, this series is dedicated to local, special-needs pups looking for loving homes.
Update: Gumball went to his furever home. Thanks for sharing his story.
Stats: 1.5-year-old, 50-pound Glossy Blockhead
Rescue: One Tail at a Time
Sidewalk Dog: Holy Milk-Bones, how is he so cute?! Tell us about Gumball.
One Tail at a Time: Gumball is the best cuddle bug in the world! He’s so eager to please and loves being the big, middle, and little spoon. He’s mega crate trained and gets right in as soon as the white noise gets turned on. He loves to eat his veggies–nothing’s better than broccoli. But did I mention the cuddles? Seriously 20/10 cuddles.
SWD: Wow, those are some good cuddles. What are Gumball’s special needs?
OTAT: He’s reactive outside to anything with wheels, people, dogs–basically wheels and heartbeats. He pees and poos real quick, though, so it’s manageable, and he really doesn’t need to be walked. A home with a yard would be amazing for him!
SWD: Ok, so will gib a lifetime of cuddles for 1 yard. Got it. What else makes him special?
OTAT: He loves to give high fives! People also love that he gets in his crate as soon as he hears his favorite white noise. His hobbies include chillaxing, binging on Netflix, ripping apart stuffies, playing with cardboard boxes, making his foster momma happy, KONGS KONGS KONGS, and making as many points of physical contact as possible when cuddling. It’s an art form, really.
SWD: A true talent. What type of home would be a great fit for Gumball?
OTAT: A home with a yard and adults only–no kids or pets. Just grown-ups who don’t believe in a whole lot of personal space. Because if you are cuddling literally anyone else at any time, he will physically separate you to assume the middle spoon position. You will be cuddled. It is your destiny.
