The University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine will be hosting the second annual Dog Olympics on March 29th, 2014. The event, put on by the Student Chapter of the American Veterinary Medical Association will run from 10 am-4 pm at the university’s Leatherdale Equine Center, 1365 Gortner Avenue. Everyone is welcome to attend this fun, family-friendly event. Guests are encouraged to bring their dogs to compete in fun games like musical sit, high jump challenge, doggy relay races and a best trick competition. Prizes and trophies will be awarded to top dogs in all events. Whether or not you bring a dog, there will be tons for the whole family to enjoy. Talented disc dog teams, agility duos, musical freestylists and canine police dogs will be putting on demonstrations of their athletic talent. There will be many educational booths set up where attendees can learn more about pet health, take a trivia challenge, purchase toys for their pets and even pose in costumes with canines at the doggy photo booth. Kids can enjoy carnival themed games, face painting, meeting guide dogs and learning more about what it is like to be a veterinarian. Community organizations will also have pets available for adoption at the event.
Tickets are $10 and are available online before the event as well as at the door.

All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the St. Paul Police K-9 Foundation, a tax-exempt nonprofit corporation organized exclusively for educational and charitable purposes. Its mission is to provide financial support for the St. Paul Police Canine Unit, specifically to give the best medical care to these hard working dogs.
