What: No Naked Dogs Fundraiser
When: This Saturday, August 10, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: Longfellow Grill in Minneapolis
Life in our midsized metro is pretty lovely, thanks in no small part to the fearless humans and canines who help keep us safe and sound. Now it’s our turn to help keep our K9 cops safe and sound.
The fab folks at Longfellow Grill in Minneapolis are hosting a fun-filled fundraiser to help Police K9 INvest Project buy bulletproof vests to protect the dogs who protect us. This Saturday, dog lovers and their furry friends will be taking over the eatery’s patio, which will be decked out with a hot-dog stand and dog-treat stand. All proceeds from these special fundraiser elements support this worthy cause, as does a portion of sales at Longfellow Grill that day.
“We are a city that loves its pets,” says Stephanie Shimp, co-owner and vice president of marketing for Blue Plate Restaurant Company, the brains behind Longfellow Grill and a handful of other pooch-lovin’ eateries around town. “We have dog-friendly patios and doggie daycare — isn’t it right to provide ‘basic’ protection for our most courageous dogs who step into danger daily?”
Saturday’s goal? $2,200, the cost of one specially fitted, bulletproof canine vest. A small price we should all be very willing to pay for their (and our) safety.
