TV in Review
Maybe at 3:00 today you were gazing over your cubicle wall to the window beyond, dreaming of a new fall wardrobe. Or maybe you were fighting off the afternoon groggies with a double Americano. Or maybe you were one of the lucky ones who caught Ali on Twin Cities Live. Did you miss it? Fear not, that’s why we’re here: to watch awesome TV for you and fill you in on the highlights. All right, to be fair we don’t watch all awesome TV for you (that’d be Richard Lawson’s job, and yes, we are a bit jealous), but we are giving you the hook-up to dog-friendly news, and THAT is awesome.
Case in point: Gigi! Look at this sweetie… She received tons of “ooohs and “awwws” today, and there’s little wonder why. This gentle, loving 10-year old girl from Pet Haven Rescue is housebroken, loves cats and kids, is a bit of a couch potato and was given to the shelter when her family lost their house. Now she is seeking a new forever home. Wouldn’t you like to make it yours?
My Dog & I Are Bored
Well, let’s put that to a stop right now. As Ali mentioned on the show, Dogtoberfest is this Saturday, October 8, in the parking lot next to UrbAnimal on Lyndale Avenue. This is dog-friendly fun, Uptown style. Musical entertainment will be provided by Dreamland Faces, you can get your eat and drink on thanks to Clancey’s Meats, Zipp’s Liquor and B.O.B.’s Brewing Company, and SidewalkDog.com will be there selling our “If I Pee On It, It’s Mine” tees. Also, the first 100 peeps to arrive will get an envy-inducing doggie bag, courtesy of UrbAnimal.
On October 29, Pet Haven Rescue will be hosting their big yearly benefit, which also happens to be a thoroughly fun gala event at Hotel Sofitel. The evening will be kicked off with a silent auction, followed by dinner and a dog and cat fashion show featuring several of Pet Haven’s adoptable animals. Accompanied by local celebs on the runway, kitties and pooches will model clothing and accessories from LuLu & Luigi in hopes of impressing their potential future families.
For Halloween-themed fun, stop by the Lucky Dog Pet Lodge 1st Annual Howl-o-Ween Party and Adoption Event. There will be a doggie costume contest—SidewalkDog will be at the Judges’ Table—face painting (to make owners look like their dogs), free pup portraits, bobbing for hot dogs, a paw print station, training demos and adoptable dogs to meet and greet.
There are many Halloween-themed events at the end of the month, which means even more opportunity for you to perfect your dog’s ensemble. For more on what’s happening, visit our Events page.
